Growing up has always been a mix of frustrating and interesting. It is usually fascinating how time flies and I am a year older and then it gets frustrating when I consider where I was few years back, where I am now and where I had in mind to be now, few years ago.
One thing has remained constant in all of these however, experience. Positive or negative, it shapes our lives for the uncertainty of tomorrow – another step in the growing up process.
Think of this as a journey. There are a number of milestones along the way, you get to meet different people along the way, you probably slip along the way, you probably miss your way, there is so much more that could happen along the journey. And we would not be able to appreciate all of these if we fail to see them as more than just happenings or events but as important landmarks that can define our direction in life.
We would be unable to see them clearly if we do not look beyond what they seem to do to us and how they seem to make us feel. What these experiences actually do to us, is equip us to become better persons even as we grow up numerically.
Age is for the body, however, wisdom comes with knowledge and actual experience.
Growing up isn’t actually fun. However, we cannot afford to miss out on the process of our making because growing up is a fundamental part of that process. You want to look back 10 years from now and be proud of who you have become.
So, stop dwelling on the difficulties and frustrations of today. They are important ingredients in your growing up to become the best version of yourself.
